Beyond Design Issue 14, March 2009

Last time I wrote to you in mid November, I talked about how we were all sucker punched by the recession. Many of you replied in agreement. Now we are 3+ months later and everyone has hit the "REBOOT" button on their business. The one phrase I can't stand right now is the one that we all get -"So how's business?" I feel like shouting back "What are you an ostrich?" All businesses have been affected whether you're a hot dog vendor or Microsoft. The real question is "How have you been affected and what are you doing about it?"

At Meyer Design we got the message real quick that we, and everyone else, need to understand the reality of the economic landscape and get competitive real fast, which we did. We pared down our cost structure and got even smarter on how to handle each sales opportunity. We then reengineered our service menu to fit our clients' need to do more with less, reduce occupancy cost, restructure, monetize assets, and still maintain focus on revenue. As the year goes on we will - and are - continuing to find new ways to reduce our clients' costs whether it's through energy savings, fitting more into less, or helping to market space.

That is our Action Plan for `09. What is yours?

Please reply and let me know your thoughts. We can be a help to you in these tough times...
